Anyone famous in it? | There is a big selection of well known actors. Peter Cushing appears in every title, while Christopher Lee and Herbert Lom each appear in two. Look out for Michael Gough, Patrick Magee, Roy Castle and Donald Sutherland. |
Who is it for? |
Obviously
any Amicus fans will want to pick this up, while Hammer and Brit-horror
fans will find this a good place to start exploring the often
overlooked work of this studio. |
Visuals | All films are Original Aspect Ratios and in colour. (Except Beast Must Die which is pan-and-scanned) Picture quality is generally good, although the films do show their age a little. |
Audio | All discs
have good sounding original English mono tracks, as well as rather superfluous 5.1 and DTS remixes. |
Subtitles | None. |
Extras | All five films include interesting cast/crew audio commentaries as well as text notes and picture galleries. Most of the films include trailers. The set includes two twenty minute interview/documentary pieces, Inside the Fear Factory about Amicus in general, and a series of interviews about The House that Dripped Blood. The boxset itself includes a short booklet about Amicus, although it is rather brief and does contain a few glaring errors and notable spoilers. |
Packing/availability | Cardboard coffin shaped box with the 5 discs in a foldout pattern. Note: this boxset is a limited edition release, and may now be hard to find. The House that Dripped Blood is available on a single disc with the same features. |
Region | Region 2 - PAL |
